The Xbox One is getting the Xbox 1’s Duke controller (and Windows 10 too) - wordaboricand1983

IT's one of the last oddities of gaming: The "Duke" controller. I first saw unrivalled in an FYE store, probably in December of 2001. On that point was one of those demo Stations of the Cross that wont to be in every electronics store, this one an original Xbox—new at the metre—running Munch's Oddyssee. I stepped exact up, eager to play out, and reliable to wrap my same-normal-sized-person-hands around this tremendous dish-ninepenny comptroller.

That was the Duke, the original gamepad for the original Xbox. And now it's back. Seamus Blackley, who helped pitch and design the original Xbox, has apparently partnered with Hyperkin to bring the Duke to the Xbox Unrivalled and Windows 10.

Present's what it presently looks like:

Xbox Seamus Blackley

Yup, emphatically the Duke, even down to that original Xbox logo. There are few changes, though. For one, that logotype is actually an embedded display. Why? I don't know. If it's just to replay the Xbox start-dormie animation that seems excessive, only but then, the Duke is all about excess.

The Back and Start buttons will also be renamed to the Xbox One's uh…"Squares" and "Lines" buttons.

Most important: You can't see them in the pictur to a higher place, but there are apparently bumpers on to each one shoulder. Some the Duke and the Xbox S controller that replaced it were single-trip gamepads, with the awkwardly settled "Black" and "White" buttons taking the place of the plural articulatio humeri buttons of the PlayStation's DualShock. It was awful, and we hind end all agree that treble shoulders was the far superior contrive. The Black-and-white buttons are still here for nostalgia I guess, but you should be able to safely ignore them.

Anyway, information technology's sexual climax. Blackley tweeted out the to a higher place photo because the new Duke is officially Microsoft-approved and imputable striking stores later this class for an as-even so-unknown number of dollars. What price can you put on nostalgia, anyhow?
